Located in Rockport’s historic art colony, Thalassa Gallery is a contemporary art space centered on a deep connection to the ocean and coastal living. The gallery presents original work through intimate exhibitions and a rotating curatorial program, with a focus on themes of place, process, and storytelling.

Thalassa was founded in 2021 by Mary Booras, inspired by her lifelong connection to the sea, along with her appreciation for art, nature, and thoughtfully designed goods. What began as a curated online shop—along with pop-ups at Boston-area markets and venues like the ICA Boston and Boston Women’s Market—has since evolved into a permanent gallery space in Rockport. The name “Thalassa,” drawn from the Greek word and goddess of the sea, reflects both Booras’s Greek-American roots and the gallery’s guiding influence.

Today, Thalassa showcases work by emerging and mid-career artists, creating opportunities for collectors to discover original art in an approachable setting. The gallery also emphasizes community, hosting exhibitions and programming that encourage conversation and connection. Whether you’re an experienced collector or simply exploring Rockport’s vibrant arts scene, Thalassa offers a thoughtful, welcoming space shaped by a genuine love of the sea.
